On this page
This page provides information about the administration of intellectual property in the Seychelles. Intellectual property covers copyright and industrial property, including patents, designs, and trademarks.
Copyright
Copyright can be claimed over any original creative work which is recorded in some way – be that through it being written down, recorded on an audio or audio-visual device, saved to a computer, or any other means.
The rules governing copyright are determined by a variety of international treaties, the most important of which is the Berne Convention.
Berne Convention Status of the Seychelles
The Seychelles is not part of the Berne Convention, meaning the Intellectual Property Rights Office cannot provide any guarantees about the protection you may be able to claim for works created in The Seychelles, either within The Seychelles or in other countries. You may still register your work and may still benefit from doing so, but it is recommended that you consult an intellectual property lawyer familiar with the copyright law covering The Seychelles for advice before doing so.
However, if the work in question was created in a country other than The Seychelles, please select the country where it was created by clicking here
